If Literary Characters had AIM

Ah, the old glory days of AOL Instant Messenger. It was a period in the early to mid 2000s that this was the height* of cool to have a witty away message. And haven’t you always wondered what famous literary characters would have left as their away message? No? Well, I bet you’re thinking about it now.

For almost a full week in October 2012, “BRB Gotta Do Book Stuff” tried to answer this very question. The idea is interesting and mildly amusing, so below are my favorites.

Slaughterhouse-Five

The Great Gatsby

Oedipus Rex

*My definition of “cool” during this period was probably a bit skewed from the average perspective.

Music Monday: Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone

Minus the fact that I should dislike it on principle of using the word “ain’t,” I really love this song.

“Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone” by Bill Withers.
